Small Value Hi Quality Line Level Hi-Pass Cap
« on: 2 Jul 2014, 10:39 pm »
Guys,
I am in need of a small value line level Hi-Pass Cap for my Bottlehead Stereomour.  I have used Sonicap Platinums in the past for this function but the value I need for the BH (270K input impedance) is small, I am looking for something in the .0033uF to .0056uF to give me a Hi-Pass in the 100Hz to 175Hz range (@ -3dB).

I have looked at Jupiter and Sonicap Platinums but they don't get quite small enough.

Any help is appreciated.

Best,
Ed

Has anyone used these?

JUPITER-75881 0.003uf / 400V,  Red Astron, Mylar/Polyester Film & Tin Foil Capacitor

or these?

JUPITER-74268  0.005uf / 600VDC, Vintage Tone, Aluminum Foil with Polyester(Mylar) Film

You could just put a resistor in parallel to the input and use the caps you already have - ?

Hi Ed
You could series wire the bigger caps for a smaller value!
the formula is

Ct= 1 /(1/c1 + 1/c2...)

hope this helps
