Sata Cable for C.A.P.S.
« on: 29 Jun 2014, 09:38 pm »
Hi I am not ready ready to drop $100-$400 on a Paul Pang sata cable but wanted to know if anyone has found something in between? Im just using generic cable supplied with motherboard, im sure there is better especially since I power the SSD externally.

This cable appears to be for modders, but is it just for looks or actually premium grade?

Not looking for controversy as to whether it can make a difference. Anyone found a value recommendation?

I don't think an audiophile approved SATA cable is necessary. Most players can be configured for memory play, I use FlacWavLoader + Foobar but there are other solutions that work just as well or better. Once the music files are loaded into memory the hard drive does nothing but hang out.

All my music files are stored on old fashioned spinning HDD's on the main computer networked to the CAPS. I can turn off the main computer and the CAPS just keeps playing because it has all the files in memory.

Interesting, I can certainly say powering my SSD separately was a sonic upgrade.

the shortest UV Blue SATA 3 from Amazon is very good.  I use a 6", and I hear a lower noise floor.  It's sheilded and very cheap.

Hey thanks again TJHUB, very evident reduction in noise floor. Worth much more than the $4 entry price.  :thumb:
