RH813 = SE amplifier with 813 tubes
« on: 25 Jun 2014, 10:57 am »
I have published on my blog a new amplifier, the RH813 - an RH amplifier with 813 output tubes.
http://rh-amps.blogspot.com/

Output power is above 30W, while the voltage is lower than usual. There are several interesting different features in this amplifier - VR tubes regulating the operating point of the driver section, high frequency AC used to heat the output tubes...

All interested are invited to check it out!

Nice amp. Some headphone guys use GM70 plate with only 600V
This acrylic table are resisting heat??

Thank you!

The headphones guys don't need power. Anyway,  I intend to develop a GM70 version later this year, having lower voltages in mind (below 1kV).

It's Plexiglas, and our locally manufactured type is quite immune to heat - it should not deform even if transformers were bolted on top, at least up to 130 degrees C.

My amps are always rather efficient, particularly when it comes to heat dissipation. The only things that get seriously hot on this amp are the output tubes: I have measured 165 degrees on the lateral surface. But the Plexiglas carrying the amp circuitry does not get past 65 degrees in the hottest spots.

The late Joule-Electra used similar plates for various 6C33 and never was a report of deforming.
Keeps us posted on the GM70 amp.  :thumb:
