Perhaps he disappeared  when I publicly asked if he was an authorized dealer and asked about the warranty.
I also mentioned public beware if he wasn't a dealer.
Perhaps I should have waited to see if James was going to get the product he ordered.
I imagine he'll pop up again on ebay,Cam ect.
No regrets here.

Perhaps I can provide a backstory for the mysterious "onathan" disappearing from A'gon.  I sent them this message:

Good Day - I contacted this seller to ask if he was an authorized Bryston dealer and if the products he sold would have a warranty with Bryston. Through the message feature of A'gon this seller told me he was an authorized Bryston dealer:

"Q: Are you an authorized Bryston dealer so the products you sell will be covered under Bryston's warranty?
A: Yes, auth. Dealer with warranty. 29% off on any bryston I also carry many other lines."

When I indicated I was interested in a Bryston BDA-2 with a silver faceplate, here is what "onathan" told me:

"Hello, I sold this one last night locally. I can order another one from bryston for you at $1,730 with full warranty. Thnks Nathan"

James Tanner is the VP of Marketing & Sales at Bryston. Here is what he had to say about "Nathan" who is advertising on your web site:

"Hi

Yes we know this Nathan and he uses about 10 different company names on the internet - he is not an authorized dealer and anything sold through him does not have a warranty.

james"

Here is the reply I received from A'gon:

I didn't know this was the same person, but I contacted him regarding  an Esoteric K-03 CDP which was listed too low to be true. He repoted to me that he was in fact an authorized  dealer as well as many other  name brands and offered 27% off on any  purchase. I knew then he must not be legit and the risk is too great not to purchase from an authorized dealer. Very glad to see that his account has been suspended. The worst thing is that he's in the Cleveland area, another black eye for us.

Having just a bit of street smarts when dealing on the internet goes a LONG way. As the old saying goes : If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

Additionally, something I always request are actual, quality, pictures of the item being sold (particularly in situations where the seller doesn't have much feedback and/or if the item is of considerable value). If the item is in-hand (which it should be), the seller should be able to take as many photos as requested. Yeah, someone could get photos from the net, but typically you won't find more than 2-3 photos of an item taken in the same environment and same lighting conditions. A quick Google search, to be sure they aren't photos grabbed from the net, is good practice as well.

That one seems quite identical to the other one if not the same.

The only difference is this one says TX.  I believe the last one was North Midwest.

They are apparently either in violation or trying to skirt Audiogon listing rules which says "Only ONE item may be listed per ad, a set of speakers or a set of an item is allowed.  However, you may only sell one set per ad, not multiple sets.  Each set or item requires it's own listing. "
