Hi All
« on: 8 Jun 2014, 07:17 pm »
Just creating an account here because after years of being a primarily head phone user (from high end Senns to Stax Omega 2s), I have decided to get into speakers with a proper 2 channel setup.

I have started off small - I currently have a AudioGD REF 1 DAC, Yamaha AS500 integrated amp, and a pair of Klipsch WF-35 Icon speakers. I very much enjoy this setup but I'm getting the itch to upgrade.

I hope to learn more on this forum!

Welcome!  A lot of good folks here w/ quality advice on gear…….and music (shameless plug for the Music Circle, which I facilitate).  Feel free to fire away with questions - or to offer advice / experience.

Welcome!  Great choice to start small and add to the system.  That is pretty much what I did, limiting my first few rounds of products to under $300 each (I did miss a few times but not by much).  This lets you learn the ins and outs without spending too much of your hard earned money while you learn what you like. I believe there is a lot technical information to learn but that is secondary to learning what "sound" you like best…believe me, there are many excellent systems that each sound a little different…and one is "just right" for you!

Just remember the single most important thing: it's all about the music with this hobby!  Play what you love, love what you play...

Best,
John

When I had headphones, I went through the entire spectrum - from a cheap pair Senn HD205 to a pair of Stax Omega I, with all the associated equipment along with it.

But the beauty was that I could easily sell and ship previously owned equipment.  It's going to be a bit more difficult with speakers.  :P

Hello, and welcome!

I must agree with what InfernoSTi (John) wrote. You'll learn a lot here. I, too, suggest taking small steps in the beginning until you are more sure of what you want. There's a lot of great merchandise here and fantastic knowledge amongst the members.
