Selling my Abacus passive preamplifier that I used with my balanced DAC to NCore 400 system - it performed wonderfully.
Preamp is based on dual channel 128-step microchip controlled relay attenuator that is switching R2R resistor networks, just like another very famous passive preamp. Signal path is completely isolated.
Remote control module controls the volume, input switching, and on/off operation. 12V trigger output is also provided. The trigger could be reversed if necessary so it puts out 12V in the off position - something useful for NC400 amps that have somewhat strange power supply stand-by trigger operation.
Everything is of the highest quality - parts, wires, connectors, chassis, feet, etc. Preamp is absolutely neutral - being passive it does not color the signal in any way, no distortion, no noise, just perfectly balanced attenuation.
Reason for selling is that now I am using a DAC that has volume control built in, so this pre is not really needed, although I am not really sure which sounds better - DAC with digital 32-bit volume control or this passive preamp.
