shhhhh...don't tell anyone else, but the new MLS cabinets...you gotta get your speakers upgraded to them...it's insane what this new wood does for bass driver response!  Not to mention some enhanced upper and mid's contributing to a more transparent and lush soundstage.  I'm still in the break-in phase with the new silver wiring, got the full signature upgrade; but I can surely state, even now, that  this new wood is to die for!     Brian begged me to keep it quiet, upgrading old wood is a chore, but I'm a blabbermouth, and I do apologize, but what can I say, this is some good stuff!!

John,

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the upgrade.

I am going to be upgrading from my beautiful Cherry finished 40's to a pair in the MLS African Ebony.  Hopefully they will be a nice improvment sonically.

I should have them in the middle of Sept.

Zybar,

I think you will be pleased.  I went from the light oak, which matched our furniture, to the African Ebony.  I expected the wife to give me a disapproving eye, but instead she commented very favorably on the looks.   Though she has mentioned several times since then, that though they look great, the bass is much stronger, which she's not exactly a fan of.   But dear I said, hear how tight it is, how much more natural and true to life that bass drum is...I should know better, un uh, it's louder she pouts    So sorry, I'll keep it down, I promise

And to think, you went with the 626Rs because you were having a "too much bass" problem.

Hmmmm :?

Well at least you now know what I have been "gushing" about ever since hearing the 626R in my system.

My first pair had "killer" bass, but with the MLS cabs and the new MegaWoofs, they are even better.

I just received my first pair of LARGERs (the begining of my "stacked" LARGERS) today and have to get them out of their boxes and fired up.

Just imagine the 626's which really kill down to about 30 or 35Hz and add dual LARGERs from 45 Hz or so down.

I'll report once it is all in place.

Oh I can imagine it all right, with some RM40's up front, my 626Rs moved to the rears, an RM30 placed between the 40's, and those dual largers....ah what sound it would be.   I'd either be shot dead or in jail, but ah what a great few minutes I'd have before the sky opened up to take vengence on one who would dare such maddness in a townhouse.   I'd put on LOTR, the original release, the one with the bass that went so low it could suck out the entire house voltage supply in that one scene...what a night that was, a bunch of high 5's from the HT geeks in the room, and some very stern looks from the wifes, especially mine.   Those were the days my friends...never again, till I get my own non-attached rumble shack.   Till then these overachieving monitors are giving me a decent bass fix without the overkill that the neighbor can't deal with.  And beyond all that, what I really upgraded to was not so much lesser bass, as more realistic musicality.   If it had been just lower bass, I would have been out of the hobby; which I came just a VMPS whisker hair close to, till I heard all that the speaker was capable of.   A definite crossroads in my audiophile life path it was.
