Maybe you can luck out and get some Magnepan 3.6s at that price point.
A receiver won't cut it with them, though.

Check out Tekton Design.  I am enjoying my Lores very much.  And they are efficient.

For $2500 or less, the Fritz Carbon 7's deserve to be heard. Fritz - the owner/builder is a great no bs kinda guy with a no risk audition program.
