Is this in effort to get the driver closer to the edge of the enclosure or something else?

It will minimize the surface reflections slightly and raise the driver up a little higher.

i have a set of these in my garage from some other things.  I did the calculations and I think you could stick a side fire 8 servo and narrow amp in the bottom half if you did a separation board inside.

Interesting ....   you may have to put the amp on the side???  ...

According to the information stenciled on the side, these cans are for the M751 which is a practice PD (point detonating) fuze for the M252 81mm mortar so ...

LGK PD-81

or LGK-B!! (for BOOM!!)

Though these are awfully tall cans for fuzes. At least they are compared to the fuzes cans for 155mm and 8" Howitzers I used to use.

BOOM!! still works though

Any hearing damage from that, Mike!  :uzi: :o

I stole this from Ninja Sean and I thank him for the cool idea.  I was actually going to make flower planters out of these before I saw his.  The only adjustment I made was foil inductors that were on sale at Sonicraft and I added wood / spray foam to take up the extra space.  I did fully line the can with no rez and made sure the port had full air access inside.  Plugged them in and sound great. Thanks Danny and NinjA.
