Anthem 310 HELP
« on: 12 May 2014, 09:24 pm »
Man, this is so frustrating. I purchased an Anthem mrx 310 and I never imagined it would be impossible to set it up. I thought it would be as easy as setting up one of the main stream receivers. Well, for me it's so confusing I can't get to any surround modes. I did figure out the ARC but that was simple enough. The manual tells of what all the features will do but, really no explanation on how to get to the many modes. I've called Anthem twice and that's not cheap with them being in Canada. They keep telling me that the operate directions begin on pg. 38. That leaves 5 pages of operation and 37 pages of what its capable of. If I could I'd return it but I'm stuck with it. Anyone else have this problem and if so what was the magical act you employed to get it to work? Thanks

Anyone want to buy a 310 that's 10 days old?

Try to post the same question here and see if you can get some feedback.

Do you have the surround speakers turn on? See page 15.

I'm surprised that the ARC system wouldn't detect the speakers hooked up and calibrate them accordingly. With my Yamaha, this is the case. You can't actually access the surround modes, except for DPL2 and the Yamaha ones, but all the true digital surround formats are detected and used depending on what is sent from your sources. Is this what you're having a issue with? Be sure your sources are set to output Bitstream (or is it PCM) over HDMI. Sorry, been so long since I set it and literally forgot it.

If you're talking about the surround "listening modes", on my MRX 300 you access them by hitting the "audio" button and use the up/down keys to select the mode. Not sure if it's the same on the 310.
The AVS thread previously mentioned is a great asset and there are Anthem employees that post there.

After talking to Anthem I found out that there is no eq built in to the receivers. After running Arc I was listening and it sounded like the fr is hotter in the 1500 hz- 3500hz are running 3-4 db hotter than the rest of the frequencies. And I was wanting to be able to bring down those frequencies about 4-6 db less than the 1000hz level. I have sensitive hearing in that range, what can I say.

So the dealer will take it back less the 15% restocking fee. Which, to me is better than have it collect dust or selling it and take a bigger beating. I guess I'll just wait until more used Mac Men220 rc come on the market. I just can't justify paying $4500 for a new one.

Thanks for your help.
