Network Players Under $1,200? Pioneer N-50?
« on: 3 May 2014, 02:44 pm »
Just seeing if there were any options I was missing out there? Would like to be slight under a 1,000 if possible but would stretch a little higher. Wish I could afford the Sony HAP Z1ES but it is too expensive. Yamaha NP-2000 would match up really well with my Yamaha AS-2000 but it seems dated already. Pioneer N-50s are out of stock it seems.

Could the oppo 105 compete sound quality wise with players in this price range? I really don't need the disc player at all.

Seems like there are not too many options in my price range...

I wonder if anyone here has any experience with using that sony strictly as a network player? I definitely don't need the amp section from it.

I heard that Marantz is coming out with their 8000 series streamer soon - NA8005 maybe?

It'll stream up to 24/192 and do DSD via USP if I understand correctly.

Wouldn't be apposed to using say a schiit gungnir with an olive one or squeezebox touch but I get the impression squeezebox especially doesn't have as great of sound quality as a computer. I am trying to not use a computer is the point. I don't like having an extra computer, extra problems. Just need something that is as quality as my system Yamaha A-S2000 with Kef LS-50s which I am extremely happy with. Just need a good source.

Hi, Electriceye.

Do either of these look like what you want?

The Sonore Circle on AC: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=67.0

There is a guy here on AC who has a slightly used Orbiter (also made by Sonore) for sale. His AC moniker is gocubs42. Talk to him about the Orbiter's capabilities to see if it fits your needs.

I'd be interested in knowing whatever you decide as I may be looking to buy something like this in the not-too-distant future.
