How did I ever miss Little Milton?

I never understood why BB King is so well known (he's OK, I guess) yet Little Milton got such little attention. So much more soulful both in playing and singing.

That's real blues to me.

Second blues artist - after Muddy - that I wished I could have seen. But what's worse is that I could have seen LM had I even known about him. He makes me say wow!

He does seem to have been unjustly overlooked by many.

Really? It's not hard to understand why B.B. KING is so rightfully famous and important.EVERY note played by any Blues or Rock guitar player after 1956 started with B.B.KING whether they know it or not.UNDERSTAND...the B.B. of the last 30 years bears little resemblance to the master that ruled the guitar world in the 50's and 60's and the Clapton's of the world bowed down and kissed the feet of Riley B. King....that is after they stole his licks. Listen to "Live at the Regal" and you will hear just some of the magic that B.B. brought forth. Little Milton Campbell would be the first to tell you that he would have been nowhere without King.Don't get me wrong,i love Little Milton and have many of his recordings from the early Sun to the later Stax and heard him many times at inner city clubs and "dances" and he was great. You heard that story about the guy that did all the work and on the third day created the oceans, well, the next day he created B.B. King so we would have our own guitar
higher power.

I wouldn't feel to bad about missing Little Milton. I've studied and played the Blues since I was a teenager and you could write a tome on just the people I've missed.

Saw Little Milton at a blues festival in kc about a decade ago.  On same bill was govt mule.  After the show went to a small club in kc Kansas where my brother-in-law and I were one of the few whites in the audience.  Little Milton played a fiery set and then introduces warren haynes and they did several songs together It was one of my great music experiences.  Club held only about 50-75 people...great fried chicken as well.
