So, of all the DIY projects I never thought I'd do (although was always curious) was welding.  Took up a hobby (off road jeeping) where it comes in handy and have to need to build stand for my gigantic horns.   Jeffrey Jackson, who made and sold the horns to me encouraged me to look into basic welding.   So I did.   I watched a bunch of youtube videos.  While that doesn't make me an expert welder, i've learned a surprising amount of trades that way including electrical & plumbing (not youtube in this cases), soldering, measuring (speakers and electronics), etc, etc.

Was wondering who else has done welding projects in the audio domain?

Welding cable makes excellent speaker wire.

I thought about learning it. There is a great trade school 3 miles from my house with a great welding program. It is a useful skill. I think I'll check into it again.

I think a great speaker cabinet would be 1/4" steel outer shell with steel bracing inside, then the inside surfaces lined with an inch of epoxy sand poured in for damping. It would be kind of heavy, but let the next homeowner worry about that.

I do audio related projects during our winter months and then work on car projects during the fair weather.I have two welders. Both wire feed. I have made up speaker mounts using angle iron welded, but most of the welding I do is car related. The current project car is a 1941 Willys three window coupe.
