Worried about excessive heat harming the dac. SP2 gets pretty hot on top.

...usually it is ok to place the BDA-1 on top of the SP2 if you ask me. i know that this preamp can get pretty warm but until you don't burn your hands if you touch it i'd say there's no need to worry about it.

happy listening!!!

There's always stuff like the below (which can be purchased at lots of places) that's cheap, provides some air space for heat and provides some isolation between components - http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Pack-Anti-Vibration-Pads-rubber-cork-2-x-2-x-7-8-OFFICE-MONITER-/200864532485

There's also stuff like  http://www.sciencecompany.com/Black-Rubber-Stoppers-Solid-and-1-Hole-C2691.aspx

It can stand up to temperature and provides spacing (there are ones of various heights and 3 or 4 should work with a BDA-1 (you would want them higher than the BDA-1 feet unless you went for 4 and put them under the feet).

Although the SP2 doesn't have vents in the top, the heat it generates still needs to be dissipated and if there isn't sufficient airspace clearance the SP2 will run a bit hotter internally as well.  Using spacers between them makes sense for both components.
