PMC AML-1 Active Monitors
« on: 22 Apr 2014, 07:57 pm »
Looking for anyone who may have sold these particular speakers on Audiogon within the last ~2 - 4 years. I am watching a pair on Audiogon with SN#'s 1015 & 1016 which were initially sent to PMC US in early 2007. If anyone recognizes these speakers I would like to hear from them about how they were used . Also interested in hearing from anyone who may know about some late model ones that may be for sale. I think PMC moved from the AML-1's to the AML-2's around 2008/2009 but the AML-1's were probably in the channels of trade through 2010 or even later.

Thanks

I don't exactly recall the serial numbers, but chances are I was the previous owner of the AML-1 that is currently listed on the audiogon. It is a great speaker. Superbly dynamic and transparent. Suitable for all genres. It can go really really loud. The bass that comes out of these monitors is mind boggling. I used a tube preamp (modded Vincent SA T8 with NOS RCA tubes) with lower output impedance to make it more musical. I was very happy with the result.

To give you a perspective, I've used a Joseph Audio Pulsar monitor after I sold the AML-1. Even though, it's a very good speaker, the AML-1 to me was much superior (more dynamic, transparent, clean and using a tube preamp - more musical). I sold the Pulsar within months. Feel free to PM me with more question.
