FS: Core Audio Designs component rack
« on: 21 Apr 2014, 04:16 pm »
This is their previous version rack which is made from solid 40mm black walnut, no veneer.  The shelf undersides are milled out and then filled with damping material before being sealed with aluminum panels.  Shelves are 22" wide and 19" deep.  Vertical spacing is 14" for the lower and 7" for the upper.  The pictures show Herbie's feet but the stand will come with high quality stainless steel spikes.  Easy assembly with metal threaded inserts and allen bolts.

The rubber feet of the first amp I used with this rack had some sort of chemical reaction with the Core Audio Designs finish and basically melted it.  I therefore stripped all the finish from the rack and put a couple light coats of tung oil on it.  This has held up perfectly and shows off the grain of the wood more, a really nice matte natural finish.  The rack is in great shape.

It's very heavy, probably 120lbs or more.  I do have the original high quality packing materials for shipping it.

SOLD!

guf, I can always ship it back to SF.

Easy shipping to Chicago too...

The only reason I am selling this is because my new turntable is too large to fit on top.  I had Core build me one of their new models to a custom size.  These racks are made in northern CA.  I picked this one up when I lived there, so the packing materials have never been shipped.  It flat packs to a reasonable size.

I paid $1250 for it and the new models start at $1750 now.

For those curious about shipping charges, as an example Fedex insured to SF, CA is $125.

very nice , just measured my TT cover and its 22 1/8 x 17 1/8  I had to get a tabletop cover for the new gen Classic 2 otherwise standard cover would of hit the tone arm .
I think I would be pushing it here
