Anyone familiar with a LeafScan-45 film scanner?
« on: 14 Apr 2014, 04:35 pm »
Found a LeafScan-45 scanner for $300.  Handles slides/negs from 35mm to 4x5.  It's 20 years old and has SCSI ports.  Said to be working properly.  I use an iMac.

Worth buying for occasional use?

Thanks!

First thing to check would be if there is software to run it on your Mac's operating system. Last time I checked, they wouldn't run on anything past OS9, that may no longer be the case. Also have read that it's advisable to use SCSI to Firewire adapter. Also, seeing that it's twenty years old, bulbs and parts can go kaput at any time and leave you with a $300 souvenir of the past.
