Crosby-Nash new album-anyone else have it?

I just picked up this album yesterday, and although I have a defective copy (exchanging it this lunch hour) I absolutely love what I've heard so far. Its a double CD album and is the finest work to come out of the CS/CSN camp in years-beautiful harmonies, excellent production and great songs. "Lay Me Down"-the opening track is superb.
If you like David Crosby at all, grab this album. He's back, in spades. Graham Nash is fine too, but I'm a big Crosby fan.

I just listened to some samples and I agree it is the best out of this camp in a long time. I'm amazed that the vocals are so good considering the time and excesses that have gone by

I agree that the harmonizing and sonics are great, but most songs are like sominex to me when compared to some of their previous outings. It's not that I expected anything high-energy, just too many weak songs. . . and there's two cd's worth. Maybe it'll grow on me if I can stay awake.

Thanks for the tip, Tonto!
I've had this album ever since you guys brought this thread up, and kind of lean to agree with Ohenry. On first and second listen, it was rather....
homogenous, I guess.
I've got just about all of their collaborative efforts, because they harmonize like few others, and none like they.
David's music has been much more involving since his new liver.
Like most folks I've met who have had transplants, they really get to realize a 'second chance', and take it to heart. (His "Heroes' album tripped my trigger, for instance.)
I have to admit, I've taken fewer opportunities to stop and listen to the newest efforts though. I bought a Brewer and Shipley first-two-albums cd the same day, and found myself steering back into it in familiarity.
Good stuff.
I*will* give this new album more time though. It won't be the first I didn't think much of on first listen, but finally 'got the idea' of an album down the line.

I think Stills will be sorely missed from the lineup. The guy is a major talent. I appreciate Crosby, but never cared that much for Nash and his sensibilities. That's not a slam, just never cared that much for his songs.
Stills on the other hand! His first two solo albums and of course Manasas. Hell. That might be the greatest double album ever.

Yo, Dogberry! I have a copy of Manassas from college and realized that I never really even listened to it! Thanks for bringing it up, will put it on the top of my "great albums that I already own that somehow I didn't ever get to listen to the first time around" list.
biz
BTW, were you ever thinking of a new avatar?????

Hi Guys,
I was getting mixed up with Bing.
But being serious for a moment the C,S,N & Y album "Deja Vu" is on my top ten, its an absolutely brilliant album. Who would have guessed that a bunch of individually gifted musicians would have gelled so well, Yeah I know you can hear what track is a Crosby one or a Stills one etc etc but nevertheless they did gel and produce some beautiful music.
I also loved the album that Crosby did with Nash, called "If only I could remember my name" - or something similar the "Little Indian Girl" was just brilliant.
This is music from a golden age, not only was there C,S,N & Y, there was the Grateful Dead, Pick Floyd, Fairport Convention, The Doors, Cream, Traffic, Lynrd Skynrd, Quintessance, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jackson Browne at his peak etc etc. I miss those days, what have we got now Busted and bands with names like Miss Cherry Dog.
PS Bill Mac is officially an old fart!

Yer preaching to the choir here, Bill!
Know what you mean about the 'old' music...and '
If only I could Remember My Name"
(a line I have thought, many times....)
Some of the rewards for mining those old records (usually) is how some of the engineering is priceless, waiting decades to unload their treasure now that my hifi is elegant enough to reflect them.
Then again, some old favorites really *do* sound shitier than I can recall.
Aw, who'm I kiddin'. Can't recall much, atall!
And listening *on purpose* to Anthem of The Sun!
Wowee! Dead-icated, eh?
That might be another one...
Strangely enough, and not to hijack the thread, I went thru a lot of gear with the feeling that a lot of Dead recordings were 'wrong', in that they didn't sound right. Only recently did I find a combination that makes it much more right. I guess like tubes and cables and tweaks, you gotta 'roll' something to make the Dead sound right.
(Naw! I really meant that innocently!)
Hope the album was good, now gotta go find mine...
Regards,
DeadFish
