New 8" Servo box?

Would these work with the new 8" servo subs?  Maybe just add some bracing?  http://www.parts-express.com/knock-down-mdf-067-cu-ft-subwoofer-speaker-cabinet--300-7068

I am pretty sure those boxes are made overseas. The MDF is like compressed cardboard. I can dig into the edges of it with my fingernail and tear it up. It can be okay for a lot of speakers. But a sub is going to be pretty rough on it.

If you can cut braces and cut driver holes then you might as well build the box. The shipping on it will cost as much as a locally purchased  sheet of MDF too.

Parts Express sells a better sub enclosure with the double-thick (1-1/2") baffle already cut for recessed mounting of an 8" woofer, and has good bracing. It was made by Erich at DIY Soundgroup, and was made with good-quality MDF. The internal volume is 0.75 cu.ft., but you can glue in a little more MDF (more bracing perhaps) to reduce that volume.

You could measure out a given amount of sand, put it in a plastic bag and then in the box. You'd probably get a little more dampening also. DIY Soundgroup is a great diy crowd sourced organization. I've bought a number of items from them and been more than happy with the quality and service. You can also bypass PE and go straight to their website.

Parts Express sources a lot of their knock-down enclosures from Erich, enclosures that he also sells on the DIY Soundgroup site at a cheaper price. Unfortunately, the 0.75cu.ft. one for 8" drivers is one he doesn't sell there.
