In-Ceiling Speakers
« on: 2 Apr 2014, 10:59 pm »
Danny (or anyone else with knowledge),

I have a friend whose house is set up for multi-room audio. It's already been wired for it, but there is no amp and no speakers. He needs a multi-channel amp/preamp or receiver and in-ceiling speakers. Can any of your speakers be easily adapted to in-ceiling speakers?

If not, do you know anyone who sells them direct?

I'm not entirely sure what the upper limit is on his budget, but he might be willing to go up to $300 (??) per speaker. Cheaper speakers for the bathroom and better (more expensive) for his family room.

Thank you for your time.

Michael

I do have several guys that use are omni wall mounted A/V-1RS on the ceiling. http://gr-research.com/av-1rs.aspx

If you mount them on the ceiling 16" from the wall and facing the wall then they work just the same as if they were mounted on the wall. And they will give you a large non-localized sound field that you really want for surround speakers.

Danny,

Thank you. I'll pass the link on to my friend.

I haven't been to his house to see how things are set up, and I do not know his WAF situation, but it sounds as though speakers are to be heard and not seen. I will learn more next Monday after I ask him some questions.
