« on: 2 Apr 2014, 09:00 am »
Hi all.
I came up with this list of manufacturers
and brand name for vacuum tubes for fun and for information.
Please feel free to add any names or brands to my incomplete list.
Thanks.

Admiral
Amperex
Brimar
Chatham, CBS, Cetron
Electro Harmonix
Futuba
General Electric, Genalex
Hitachi
JJ
Marconi, Matsushita, Motorola, Mullard
Mazda
Northen Electric, NEC
Osram
Prefereer Series (The Tube Store), Philco, Philips
RCA, RFT, RTC, RTF, Retheon
SED, Shuguan, Siemens, Sovtek, Svetlana, Sylvania,
TAD, Telsa, Tung Sol, Towa, Tungsram

If you want and feel like it, you can also correct the spelling of the names.

List all tubes brands are a herculean task.
Just in this Moscow shop there is maybe a hundred brands just from Russian factories:

This is really tricky, Guy.

For one, some of the brands in your list never actually made tubes.  To the best of my limited knowledge, Philco, Motorola and Zenith (maybe even CBS?) actually bought tubes from other manufacturers like RCA, GE and Sylvania and rebranded them.

There was also lots of intermingling among manufacturers.  You'll find Amperex-made tubes branded Mullard and various Euro tubes branded RCA, etc.  When manufacturers ran out of specific types of tubes they often bought competitor's tubes and rebranded them to fill orders until they could rework their tooling to make the out-of-stock tube again.

Hi Ericus Rex or for short ER.
Posting my list was to get what you just posted,
that's informative comments
Thanks for your comments, very informative.
This can be a little complicated as you say, some, read many tubes are re-branded.
I know that Sylvania might be the one that sell his tubes to many other
manufacturers or tubes users.

All the Admirals I've ever owned have been Sylvanias.  Ditto Westinghouse.

Guy, your list is missing RFT (don't know what this stands for) and RT (Radio-Technique of France)

Hi Ericus Rex.
For what I found out in my search, look as if Sylvania made tubes
for lots of different manufacturers.

Hi h00hbt.
(What a strange nick name ? ? ?)
Thanks for the information.
You are sure well documented.
By the way does RTF (Radiodiffusion-Télévision-Française)
made tube for themselves or tubes were made for them and by whom?
