Bryston MINI T PRO SPEAKER
« on: 15 Mar 2014, 05:41 pm »
Hi Folks,

Over the last few months I have loaned out the Bryston Mini T speakers to a few studios and the response has been terrific.  So I have been convinced by a few quality recording engineers that it would be nice to offer a Bryston Mini PRO version as most studios want a speaker with amplifier attached to provide for portability from studio to studio and ease of operation because most recording consuls have a set of Balance XLR outputs available for their monitors.

So in response here is a PRO version of the Mini T with the Bryston PowerPac 300 attached

I wanted to do just what you have done with my PowerPac 300 and Thiel SCS4's. Don't have the guts to put holes into the speaker.

Great idea James and it looks excellent. Is their any plan in the future to integrate the powerpac inside the speakers cabinet and have an amplifier for each driver in a choice of bi-amp or tri-amp configurations?  :thumb:

Thanks,
Mark

I can design you a simple adapter plate that would use the ID panel hole you already have. You'll need to find a machine shop to make them though. Pick a PowerPac and I'll verify that the dims will fit.

Ho

Cant do it internally with amplifiers of this quality - most internals use Class D designs with switching power supplies to keep things small.

From the looks of it heat dissipation would be the main issue - ?

Hi John

You mean heat dissipation if we were to insert the PP300 - if so yes that would require a complete redesign.  Also one of the advantages I felt with this design is there are many PP300's out there in the Pro market and the ability to attached it to a quality speaker is a big plus rather than having to spend money on internal amplifiers they do not need.

James I received the Bryston Mini T Pro speakers!

Thank You So Much your urgent  timing on this matter it was perfect (and here's why). FedEx dropped them off yesterday morning. I bolted the PP 300 on the back of the Mini T Pros and tested them out. Yes they are heavy (66 lbs) but so, so, so worth it!!, the bottom and top end is incredible with the PP 300.

The really good news is I took them to Humber College last evening for my mastering class.

Turns out "Al Schmitt" is up from New York to do a "Producer In Residence" for 2 Days only and get's to audition the 300 Pro Mini T's.  He is normally impossible to get for testing New gear, especially speakers!
