Truly enjoying the new listening room, dim lighting projecting a cornicopia of gargoyle shadows on the walls with grey skulls silhouetted in their soft glow and of course, surrounded by my most favourite music.
But something is missing from my humble Xanadu - feedback from my Bryston gear.
The issue is not being able to see the volume control position in dim lighting and when taken into account, the effortless ability of the Beasties to supply the JBLs with clean, uncompromising power easily creeps up on one and you do not realize it until something happens in the room and finally appreciate how loud it is. During my "daylight" sessions, this is not an issue as the position of the volume control on the BP26 can easily be determined from across the room, but as mentioned previously, turn the lights down and it is a different storey.
An advocate of simplicity and clean lines, I would not want to see a numerical display or any extra indicator lighting on the preamplifier, but would settle for a simple feedback loop to the remote control, perhaps consisting of two small indicators for 50% and 75% volume control positions. Yes, a very small observation in the grand scheme of things, but am also curious if other individuals has experienced issues such as this.
Be well...
