Speaker Cable Lifter's?

Are there any pics of these things. Was thinking about using Matchbook Cover's for them.

The cable (OTA) is flimsy and can be supported by almost anything.

It's a minor tweek I am trying to use to see if there is a difference.

TIA,ABEX

Check out Mapleshade---

http://www.mapleshaderecords.com/tweaks/cablelifts.html

Why not try something similar using common products???? Wooden dowels and rubber bands??  Unsharpened pencils--they'd be the same length and you could use 'em if the tweak didn't work?

Someone elsewhere suggested Oriental bowls and knife rests since some lifters are ceramic.

Yes I rad that also, but I would rather make something and save the $$ for other things.

Hope you read the Stones and Balls post ,it is really a $$ saver.

I will use Pencils painted Black for lifter's for now till I figure out some thing different that I can build myself.I think it was outrageous for them to ask $600 for feet though!I made mine for nothing out of meterial at work.

Tweeks are great ,but I would rather make my own to save $4.

Thx for the idea's though!

Should have been written as "For all Audio Idiot's ,this is the sale of the Century".Only $600 for Pucks and if you buy 2 sets we will only take $1000 from you.Now ain't that a great deal!

If you need a set under each component that's 6 components = $3600 .That's more than what I spent on my whole system.Well almost!

Check this out--
http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.pl?forum=tweaks&n=42536&highlight=Knife+rests&r=&session=

This is the tweak I mentioned above--it's porcelain like the official Cable Lifters. I've always found David Aiken (of Audio Asylum) to have worthwhile opinions, so I'd be inclined to investigate this as well as the pseudo-Mapleshade lifters.

Thx Tonto, that was what I was looking for.I will do with Pencils for the moment as I had a few packs lying around that I thought I'd have till the day I go to the great gig in the sky.

I am just recovering from $600 Footer's myself. It might take yrs to get over the sticker shock!

Later,ABEX

Sorry, but anyone with such a poor command of English shouldn't call anyone else an "idiot."  Capitalization isn't a random event, nor do we pluralize nouns generally with apostrophes (there are some exceptions, but "Idiot's [sic] isn't one of them].

:rules: Yeah! You tell 'em Tonto Yoder! (even though I agree with the content of ABEX's post)  But you'll have your work cut out for you if you wanna make such spelling corrections around here in the future.  Hell, I barely have any tongue left from biting it so many times...

Well ABEX the cable elevators are just that. Perhaps you were looking at the Aurios Pro M1b's which are decouplers. It is the ultimate tweak that I have done to my sysytem. I have them under the spikes to my X-1 Grand Slamms as well as under my front end. They have added incredible depth to my system. If you wre to see these decouplers you would be amazed as to how precise they are made. They are used under electron  microscopes where there is to be absolutely no movement

By the way, I have been into high end gear for over 30 years and have owned everything out there that is worth owning and I can say to all you naysayers that the Aurios Pro M1b's made a vast difference to my system. They are sitting under $85K speakers as well as under front end gear. I would be happy to discuss the issues with you rather than condemning something about which you seem to know nothing about. You can get a look at these as well as my room at

Are there any tweeks you know that can be made that are not as stringent in the $$ department? :?:

I use to work for Data General which used to lubricate their HD's with a  special oil that went for something like $600oz..That I can under stand ,but for something that is uesd to Isolate Vibration $600. :?

I will look to my own Fabricated Metal Stands welded with Superballs for further stability for alot less.Oh and with the $$ I save I'll be able to go down to the local Tombstone engraver and get those Slab's of Black Marble I have been wanting to put under my Floorstander's.Oh what the Hell I may as well get a few more while I am there for the Monitors for the surrounds I have with the Steel Speakerstands I made from meterial I have from work.

The porcelin and chopsticks look better than  Mapleshades($40) and makes more sense than spending $100+ for some.

Not that those tweeks don't have a genuine benefits, but the cost to performance ratio cannot be so extrodinary that they have to be included in a system to make it  sound over the top.

My dream system does not include expensive tweeks, but they might be worthy to people that think they are of value. :nono:

I guess it comes down to if your gonna dream why not dream big and when you have reached that dream and can afford more why not add in those $600 Footer's while your at it.

Geez my speaker's did not even cost $600 ,but they can compare to the $3600 speaker's I listened to the other day.And the floorstander's I am getting are not as expensive as those $3600 speaker's either, but I know they are good to my ears and other Manf.'s,Audio Eng. and reviewer's they are not BOSE either. :D

I think Highend is one of the biggest ripoff's to the consumer on the planet :(  ,but that is not to say that the gear is inherently bad,far from it.Just not realistic for the average person.

I think If you read ,follow along and test you can get some great geat equiptment that is very close to SOTA for alot less and If you get to know a good Audio Engineer you can get some great stuff for next to nothing(Mid-Fi prices). Atleast that has been my experience.

You have it on me in Yrs. of experience and in the Biz.I have only been listening since I was 15 and am now 43. 8)
