I have followed the whole DSD thing with interest, but have yet to dive into that particular swimming pool, after discovering that one would need a larger investment in PC (RAM and processor power seem to matter a lot for on the fly conversion or memory play etc).
That said I often read about folks optimizing their music "server".
I use a dedicated netbook, running Win 7 starter, 2GB RAM (max'd), outboard 2TB drive, running Logitech Media Server as the music s/w. Mix of 44.1 FLAC and some 24/XX files as well.
I use a hacked Pogoplug running VAMP from Vortexbox as my player. Off this hangs my HRT Music Streamer II USB DAC.
My question is - since I am using a streamer (I figure that is the most accurate description of what the Pogo is acting as) is there any rationale to upgrade my server?
If you believe there could be, what would I look to beef up?
