As I've added outboard USB hard drives, cable modems, routers, etc. I got a bit of a cluster of cables around my computer. I've noticed most devices now come with small generic/cheap wall wart switching power supplies. These ps also have very small gauge DC cables to connect to and power the device.
Given the small dc cable size, my notion is the cables are not shielded. Are there any benefits to shielding a DC cable? If they were AC power, I would assume so, but with DC, does it matter? Most are supplying either 5vDC or 12vDC x 2.0 amps.
I was considering buying, or building, a couple of cleaner (linear) PS for my music library hard drives and wondered if I should plan to use a shielded DC cable feed?
Thanks
