xr-45 panny DIY mods?

Who has done any DIY mods to their xr45?

I'm looking at the internals and think this thing should be worth a try.   It's cheap enough.  Well who has done what and with what results?

The first replacement will be a hard wired power cord, seems easy.  Next, has anyone replaced the internal speaker cables going straight to their speakers?  Following the path from the amps to the binding posts, looks like some tiny resistors in line.   Can they be bypassed?

Any ideas would be great.

You can skip everything on the power board and go directly from new binding posts to the inductor board.

Thanks audioengr!  i'll give it a try.  I was thinking of skipping the binding posts all together and running the speaker wire ,off the inductor board, straight to the speakers.

Well, it's not an XR45 mod, but today I finally got around to doing my battery mod to my XR-25. Very simple- just wired in a 12V SLA battery into the main H-Bridge supply leads. The receiver still needs to be plugged in so that the low-level circuits have power, but the output stage is completely run from the battery.  Power output should be 8-10 W in this arrangement. Volume control continues to work as expected as long as you're below about -20 or so on the dial.
I haven't put it in my main system yet, but it sounds pretty good on the RatShack Linaeum speakers in my computer room.

I've also replaced the input opamp (njm 4580)  with AD826 and 4 interstage caps in the signal path with BG and obtained great results
