Hey guys,
I did the design for these rooms with TJ from Overture, so I'll go ahead and answer your questions to the best of my ability.
What effect did the big wall rug have?
As Glenn mentioned, this wasn't part of the acoustic plan. The beautiful quilt was handwoven by a long-time customer of theirs. Acoustically it probably does help a bit to reduce some flutter echo from higher up in the room (like you would expect from a curtain or quilt on the wall), but not much aside from that.
Looks like good old eye bolts screwed into the ceiling, is this better than flush to the drywall?
Beautiful !
What are the 3 traps or diffusors on the ceiling? I would love to have do the same to my ceiling. How the heck do you attach them?
Are they first reflection point?
I didn't notice the Cloud mounting brackets in your install, did the 242's have your scatter plates installed in the 242 and you mounted the cloud brackets to them?
Those are GIK 242 Acoustic Panels up there (in off-white). This room was actually completed a few months ago, before we released the Cloud Mounting Brackets. They're attached as Greg suggested - toggle-eyes in the ceiling to the eyehooks in the back of the panels. Hanging them with an airgap gives better performance at lower frequencies. Our panels already have a built-in airgap but an additional few inches is not such a bad thing! Plus visually it looks nice as well. The Cloud Mounting Brackets we now sell space the panels about 4" off the ceiling, too.
They're located about an hour's drive away from me, I'll have to make another stop by.
Please do! They're really great guys. It was a pleasure to work with them.
