I have been doing a little research for a while and have it narrowed down to 3 turntables based on stuff I have read online;

Rega RP1
Pro-Ject Debut Carbon
Pro-Ject RM 1.3

If anyone could push me in one direction or another it would be greatly appreciated.

You can’t go wrong with any of them, I would lean more towards the Rega.

Hi.  I think you should consider used TTs as well.  Some are getting into Vinyl, but I get the impression that some are moving out given the ability to scan a collection in high rez.  Don't get me wrong, I'm keeping my vinyl.  But you can probably some something like a used Teres maybe, for a good price.

I was leaning towards the Rega anyway, because of brand reputation and the fact that it came with a a dust cover.

Project makes a great entry level table too as well as some more expensive tables. I think they are equal to Rega in quality and performance.

The Rega has no built in VTF on the arm, and the platter is pretty cheezy. I'd try to drum up some more cash to spend on the RP3. You get probably one of the best engineered arms in the world (price wise) in the RB-303 and the rest of the table is upgraded with a glass platter. Just a much better value in my books.

The Debut Carbon is kind of a POS as are other Pro-ject tables, again my opinion. I had a Debut III to review it and was not really impressed. Kind of cheap all over. Maybe the 1.3 is a better choice if you can't afford to go up to the RP3. Also, none of these come with cartridge, so you will have to budget that in, along with a record brush and maybe at least a Shure SFG-2 stylus force gauge, which you will need if you go the RP1 route.

There is an RP3 with upgraded wiring on Audiogon for $525 which isn't very much more than what an RP1 costs new.  I am assuming RP3 is better than RP1 but I don't know how much if any.

Is the best tonearm for the price,music direct mostly list a demo with discount ,check it out

I'd go for the debut carbon. It has a better tone arm than the others and is usually sold with the ortofon 2m red cartridge, which in my opinion and experience is better than the sumiko pearl that tends to come with the rpm 1.3. I had a rpm 1.3 and if I had to do it again would get a debut carbon instead.

 The standard RCA jacks on the Pro-jets is nice for budget tables & using anything better than the cheapie rca's that comes in the box will improve the sound immeasurably.

Rega makes some good gear, but the RP1 is nothing special - even with the "performance package". At this point I think all these tables are going to feel a bit cheap and light in the plinth department. You'll have to spend double though to get into something like a used VPI to get something with some heft.

It depends on a person's goals i'd guess. i bought a debut111 to play garage sale records because there is no way i can financially buy the lps that i want new. it is ok but my cd/computer blows it way in almost every way...if i wanted to make lps a priority i would  look a bit higher up the chain. good luck and enjoy...

I've been using a Rega P3 for several years.
Good performances.
My second choice would be a U Turn Orbit with the Ortofon 2M red
Then my third choice would be the VPI Scout.
I find the construction of the Rega P3 a little cheap for what they bare asking,
don't really like the way the motor is installed.
But that's me.

Another reasonably-priced option is the Audio-Technica LP-120 or LP-1240.
Good cartridge match is the AT440mla.

I have the 1240 and it's built like a tank.
