Electronic Room Correction & Dipoles
« on: 19 Feb 2014, 10:35 pm »
Hey folks, just curious if any of you have room correction for your dipoles.  I've got a DSPeaker Antimode 2.0 on the way and was curious what would be the advantages or disadvantages of using this unit on dipole speakers.  Any advice or comments are welcome.

Thanks,
Steven

My apologies, V.  I didn't mean room correction via diffusion and absorption panels, I meant correction via electronics.  I.e. the use of TacT, DSpeaker, and there are a few others as well.

But, while we're on the note, I do use a few well placed panels in my current room but am still having problems with bass being overly boomy.  This is a rent house and attaching anything permanent isn't allowed.  Also, I should note that my room is 10x10 with 8' ceilings.  The absolute worse case scenario for anyone serious about 2ch listening.  Another reason I'm trying out the DSPeaker.

Hi Steven,

Since purchasing Amarra Symphony w/iRC I've become a believer in room correction. While this software solution is a bit different than what you will soon have, I thought I would offer a bit of encouragement. Sonic Studio (Amarra) partnered with Dirac Research to provide integrated room-correction in their latest build which, fortunately, is easy to use and very effective. I've used it with both my Mark & Daniel monitors and my Magnepan MMGs with great results. The effect is stunning with the Maggies in my less-than-perfect living room. Seems everything improved .. better clarity and focus, better bass response, and well, just better all around. (Same result for the monitors as well, just somewhat different.) In fact, I now find it hard to listen to my system without it in the mix. I wouldn't be surprised if you experience similar results. I believe room correction to be the future, whether done in a computer with software or in a stand-alone box. Best of luck and good listening.
