Hi. Just registered yesterday. Have been into music all my life, but just got into mid-fi a couple of years ago. I have been on audioasylum for that length of time and have only about 150 posts. I like the DIY/tweaks section best. A Google search for accessories led me to this site. Hope I can find some nice discussions here. I am having a little trouble getting started, but maybe things will pick up soon.

My system consists of an Oppo 105 player, Arcam FMJ AVR 400 receiver, Acoustic Zen Adagio speakers, Morrow MA3 IC's, MIT SP 2 speaker cables, and BMI Whale Elite and Supreme PC's. I have often wondered if my system is properly balanced with its' combination of accessories. Anyone have any suggestions? I have tweaked the system quite considerably, and it has made a huge improvement in performance.

Welcome to the community (visualize wife and me with apple pie in hand). I hope you find this place as interesting as I do.
Through AC I have found some great guys and some I'd like to smack the back of their head, but everyone is enjoyable.
Like everything, taken in moderation this is a good place to be.

Welcome to AudioCircle.  If you are interested in DIY speakers, make sure you check out the GR Research board.

Welcome to AC.
Nice speakers, and it appears a well-balanced system.

If you're happy with the sound, spend your money on your music library.
Listen to other systems until you hear something that makes you want to change.

Just throwing it out there, but having Modwright work on your Oppo might be where I'd start.
Or possibly power conditioning/room treatments.

Welcome to AC!

By "accessories" do you mean cabling?  Or something else such as stands / isolation devices / etc?

I think the best advice people can give you with cabling is to try before you buy from a helpful dealer who hopefully allows demos (or has a good return / trade in policy).  But giving folks an idea of what quality of sound improvement your seeking may help to steer you in the right direction.

Thanks all for your replies. In terms of cabling, I have heard good reviews on Huffman cables, especially the IC's. I am going to buy some used ZX's in the next few days. Anyone have experience with this line?

Very nice looking system. I would agree with the above comments about Room Treatments if you don't have any in place. Of course how much you can do can often depend on spouse's decorating desires (usually referred to as Wife Acceptance Factor- WAF).

Another thing that is too often overlooked is equipment positioning. Jim Smith's Get Better Sound book is an invaluable resource on that front.

And especially if room treatments aren't much of an option, you might want to think about looking into a DSPeaker Dual Mode 2.0. Most well known for the use of DSP to automatically correct for problems in the bass region, but you also have EQ options that you can adjust manually (all in the digital domain), and you can even save up to four settings. I even use mine as a channel balance control, since my room prevents my soundstage from being properly centered.

Incredibly versatile and it offers both analog and digital outputs, so you can choose between the sound of its analog output stage or the sound of the Oppo or any other DAC you may choose which has an optical input.

Robert Greene's review gives a good idea of the functionality of the unit:
