In the pic, you'll see two 'christmas light bulbs' connected between the grid and cathode of both sides of my 6DJ8 driver within my Quicksilver GLA amp. What are they and what do they do?

They look like neon lamps, I can't see a filament, possibly to prevent over voltage while the tube warms up. I've seen it done using a diode but not a lamp. I have also seen small lamps used as the cathode resistor.
Edit: This more or less confirms it.
