DLNA player for IOS?
« on: 3 Feb 2014, 12:45 am »
Anybody here have experience with one or more of the half-dozen or so DLNA player/renderer apps available for IOS?  Now that IOS7 is out, Apple seems to have removed the "no iPhone" restriction on direct digital audio via the camera connection kit.

I recently got an iPhone 5C, which is working fine using the lightning camera connection cable and my Pico dac/amp combo.  I am thinking of combining that with a Seagate portable wifi disk, which can act as a dlna server to store my FLAC music library.

8player and Moliplayer both seem to get decent reviews, but any direct experience with these or others would be appreciated.  There is a guy on headfi that is running the Seagate wifi portable, iPhone, 8player, and Pico who seems satisfied with the setup.

If this works out, I will be selling the CuBox, as the iPhone/wifi disc is a simpler, cleaner solution.  So far I've had issues with both Logitech Media Server and Volumio on the CuBox, in each case difficulty getting it to recognize and index a large FLAC collection on external usb disk.  Probably someone who knows more Linux than I could get it working, but it's been a struggle for me.
