Hi I'm a born again, second time round vinyl newbie and it seems my hifi addiction has carried over from my digitalitus.
I gabbed a nice second hand Rega P5 with TTPSU and Ortofon bronze for a second fun system with my old NAD integrated and B&W 705. Nice hey. Then the NAD died and may not come back.
My main system is CJ valves and Vivid B1s, so I thought I'll put the turntable on that. no preamp.
I'll keep it modest.......
I just ordered a Zesto Andros because it's well reviewed and forumed and looks like my speakers, all curves and black and silver.
I'm in deep now aren't I? The poor RP5 will be gone in 12 months won't it. replaced by a Well Tempered.
Ooops.
Forget AA. I need TTA

Welcome Briz, its a wonderful addiction
The Zesto Andros is a terrific phono stage. It took my system to another level.
I started with a Project and Sumiko Blackbird and now I have an SME 20/2 with a SME IV.Vi arm and a Lyra Skala cart; so yes, I'm afraid there is a good chance your Rega will be gone within 12 months.
Vinylitis is good for the soul.

Welcome Briz Vegas it’s a rewarding addiction to have even though it can be expensive.
From my first turntable a Pioneer PL112D, I am now on my fourth an Acoustic Solid One to One with Dynavector 507 MKII tonearm and Roksan Shiraz cartridge. It’s been a very nice journey.
You are going to have fun.

It all started when my NAD and turntable had more emotional impact than the digital. That's all it took.
I actually own 3 turntables, a Rotel RP 300, a plastic Yamaha that a relative sort of dumped on me, and the P5. I think I do need to spend 12 months buying records and just enjoying what I have before delving deeper. I set a high standard of quality ( if not outright musicality) with the DAC based system, that's my dilemma.
It will be interesting to see how I go, but most importantly I just hope my aim to get highly musical vinyl replay has been successful. The Rega has been very likeable so far with the NAD. I'm pretty confident that will carry over when I insert the new phono pre and try it in the big system on Saturday.

Welcome to the journey. Can we define your addiction ? Is it the music or fooling with the gear to get the music ? If it is the latter as a addict vinyl with all it's variables just may overdose ya.
There are so many arm/cart. combos, arm wiring offerings and stands one could lose it. Then there are MC and MM designs. Once all is together then there is VTA, tracking force, azimuth and cleaning the LPs.
Saying all that worth every penny and minute spent. the first thing I would buy is a record cleaner. Clean those Lps and start enjoying your vinyl. You have a VG phonostage.
When you decide to upgrade get an arm with adj. VTA. Being an addict one will need that. Just to get ya going a bit if now the LPs sound better to you than your previous CD sound your gonna be hooked line and sinker.
ENJOY !!!!

Welcome Briz.
I have had the opportunity to hear the Zesto Andros on a few occasions and it is a fantastic piece of kit. I look forward to hearing your observations.

I think I will stick with this for a year. I've already blown the budget. I've fancied an Amadeus for years but because I needed the phono as well I always put it off. I see that as my next step and it keeps my vinyl simple in relative terms.
I also only have about a 100 vinyl records. I've bought 5 in the last month, but psychologically it's expensive compared to digital if you like clean new stuff. The second hand stuff has been poor. End of the day it's about the music, that's what keeps the foot tapping.
I have a bottle of cleaner. That's enough until you hit the 200 mark I think, that and a $4300 dollar pre amp
But what ya gonna do, hook a $500 preamp into a $50 k system. The TT was not purchased with this system in mind, the preamp was.

The second hand stuff has been poor.
Whilst there is mistreated bargain bin rubbish out there, my experience has been (with careful selection of course) that there are many fantastic good condition (if initially dirty) bargains out there. The secret is much as Rollo said, good cleaning. I was amazed how even a cheap RCM such as the KAB EV1 (in my case) could make such a big difference and I've always been very careful with my new vinyl as well as second hand selections. My TT is not an Amadeus but pops, clicks and surface noise are rarely heard in my system and without them, vinyl can really strut its stuff to the best of any TT's ability. I guess for me, addiction is less about bettering my system and more about about finding and listening to lots of LP's in as pristine a condition as possible but I'm doomed just the same.
