FS-Hypex NCore Mono Amps *SOLD*
« on: 31 Jan 2014, 01:03 am »
Up for sale are my Hypex NCore mono amps.  I am located in NE Ohio and I am asking $1,250 + shipping.  I will accept check, Money Order or PayPal (+3% unless you use the “Gift Option”).

I would rate these amps a 9/10 in condition.  The amps consist of a pair of NC400 amplifier modules and a pair of SMPS600 power supply modules which are housed in two Sillcone RE2207 cases.  As you can see in the pictures the face plates are custom made by fellow member Jason (jtwrace) and look really great on these cases.

The RE2207 cases come with 8 rubber footers which I never used as I had “better” audiophile thingies that I used instead.
As you can see from the back, the NCores are meant to run balanced.  However, I do have very nice XLR/Single Ended adapters if you need to run the amps unbalanced.

These mono amps both have the Nampon correctly wired and grounded which is controlled by a switch on the back panel.  When not in use just have the switch in the down position.  When you want to listen move the switch to the up position.

Rather than go into how much this cost and how much that cost, I will list the improvements that I made on my NCores.   Those of you who are interested can choose whether or not to move forward based on what I am asking.  Those of you who want these for 50% of what I paid need to wait for a more motivated seller.

Improvements:
Two 10 mm thick Custom CNC’d faceplates with the NCore name.

Power Wires replaced with 16AWG Mil-Spec Silver coated wire

Two Furutech FI-10 IEC’s

Sound Coat damping material applied to the inside of both chassis.

Each mono amp has a Synergistic Research Quantum SR20 fuse

The original Mogami input wire was replaced with the “new & improved” stuff sent out by Hypex.

DH Labs T-14 wire was used as the speaker hookup wire.  I drilled a hole between my speaker binding posts on the back panel, put in a rubber grommet and then used the Apex Jr. binding posts as a “clamp”(Ric Shultz mod).  This enables a direct connection from the hookup wire to my spade terminated speaker cable.  I have tinned the end of the hookup wire that is now wrapped around the binding posts so they do not move at all.  With the Apex, Jr. binding posts, you could use bare wire, bananas or spades.  I personally like bare wire but I am tinkering so much I just prefer spades.  If you prefer (don’t know why…), I will put the speaker hookup wire back in the case and solder to the inside of the binding posts.

The upgraded Furutech FI-10 IEC was smaller than the opening on the back panel.  Consequently, there is a small opening left.
Lastly, there are two small scratches on the bottom of one of the chassis as denoted in the last picture.

Thanks for looking,

Randy
