Nice pair of Snell Type K speakers. These are the original Ks designed by Peter Snell. Consecutive serial numbers, drivers are all original, and the woofers were recently refoamed. The grill covers are excellent. The oak cabinets have been refinished and stained a darker color (maybe mahogany?), but they show a number of scratches and one repaired corner ding (see photos). Definitely used, but still presentable. And they sound absolutely terrific.

They're heavy (52 lbs. boxed), but at the asking price I'll split shipping (from 84105) within the continental US. No PayPal fees; I'll also accept a USPS money order. Check my feedback on Audiogon and email me if you have questions.

If the re-foaming was done competently these are a bargain . Cheapest Audio Note K/LX which is based on these speakers is what, $3k ? and some  say it's a true bargain among small boxes. Older AN-K are nothing more than re-branded Snell K but go for considerably more money. A great, lively speaker for tube amps.

Thanks for the comment. They were refoamed professionally just before I got them, and the work was nicely done (you can see that the woofers were also reconed), using good quality surrounds. I've got three pair of Type Ks right now (hence the sale), and I'd agree with your description. For me, the Ks were a big step up from Dynaudio X12s--far more open and natural. I haven't heard them with tubes (everyone says that's the way to go!), but I've used them with Naim and Creeks integrateds, a 3886 gainclone, and a 100-watt HK solid state, and haven't found them to be fussy about amps. They're excellent speakers and a real bargain.

Just to Echo these comments. For $225 these are a true steal. I picked up a pair of KII/V's and refoamed them myself. They are great great speakers and sound amazing with tubes. The originals are supposed to be even better.
