Strange goings-on with my JVC RX-F10S

In the interest of breaking in my JVC I've been leaving it on a lot. Twice now I've noticed that after playing for two or three days straight it starts to sound funny. It seems to be distorting, and the effect on the sound is a sort of fuzziness, almost as if I was listening with cotton in my ears. I don't think it's a big deal because it goes away when I turn the amp off and let it cool down for a little while, but I was just wondering if anyone here has noticed the same thing with theirs.

Nope, can't say I'm getting that sensation on my ES1sl.

I do get 'distortion' or 'crackling' during dynamic passages when played thru the BPT.  It's so clean and clear that everything is heard.  It doesn't happen when plugged inot the wall, but then again, it's not quite a s clear overall to maybe know.

The one time I thought it was getting fuzzy...I stopped drinking my favorite sake.

Is yours plugged in any conditioner?  Play it with and without and see.  The little wonder is so good, it may be picking up something in your audio chain you didn't ever notice before. Ain't that damn remarkable for your $280?  :o

The symptom you're describing seems to be differnt than mine...I am not aware of it happening here.  Mine is plugged in and playing 24/7, as well.

I too would not discount the idea of it picking up on something else; maybe swap some components out, OR, if it does it with the tuner, then it is in the amp chain. If it persists, you should soon determine whether or not to bundle it up for another...

I think I've eliminated all the other links in the chain, what I'm wondering now is if it might have just been the A/C running in the room next to me that made me think there was a problem. I've recently moved my system into the basement, and the central air unit is right on the other side of the wall so that may be it. Or, it could be that bad wiring in my townhouse is the problem, and I'm just not getting clean or enough power to the amp down here. That's what I'm starting to fear.... probably time to buy a house and do it the right way myself.

Well Gary, buying a new house for clean AC is a little extreme, but I'm proud that you take your disease so seriously

I think you need to leave Rochester (Western NY) to get better electricity.

Well, at least get better weather...
