I still haven't had the pleasure of listening to a Salk speaker yet (still interested), but I got to spend an hour listening to Usher Mini 1 Diamond two-way floorstanding speakers in the Usher showroom in Taipei, Taiwan just this afternoon. This was my first time to listen to the Mini Dancers and, yes, they sound terrific. (The class A amp powering them might have had an impact as well.)

Now that I've heard this (and the sound is fresh in my mind), has anyone heard the Mini Dancer 1 speakers recently enough to offer an opinion on which of the Salk speakers have similar sound? Ya see, without being able to hear Salk speakers until I return to the US, I'm stuck trying to find comparisons.

Please note: I'm not trying to suggest the Usher speakers are better nor am I dissing Salk speakers, okay? If someone can say XXX speaker is similar to the Mini 1, I can at last have a reference point. I'd really like a reference... :(

Thanks!

Dennis Murphy voices most of the Salk speakers.  He also voiced the Philharmonic Philharmonitor speakers which are made in Taiwan.  I hear they are sold locally in Taiwan under the manufactures brand.  I don’t know what that is.  You could contact Dennis Murphy to find out the brand in Taiwan.  I have not heard the speakers; however, there is a strong similarity in sound with many of Dennis Murphy’s designs.  That should give a taste of the sound given by some of the lower end Salk speakers.
