I am selling a very nice set of Sound Lab A-1 speakers. The panels have been rebuilt with the new PX mylar, copper rings, and any other applicable updates by Soundlab earlier this year, and have only 30 minutes of play time on them at my place-I played them to verify all was well after the trip home. These speakers have the Toroid 1 upgrade installed. These will come with the U-1 back plates as shown in the photos (one note-one is labeled "U-1" and the other "Ultimate 1"...not sure what is up with that, but they both perform the same). The speaker backplates have a custom set of risers that Dr. West constructed to allow clearance for the Toroid II upgrade option.
The panels look like new, and the frames are in overall nice condition. There are some darkened marks on the finish on the sides of the frames that are a silhouette of where the set of "wings" had been previously installed. Other than this, these are in beautiful condition other than a few small scratches here and there. I have tried to capture this in one of the photos. They are rated at 5/10 due to this. The wings will come with the speaker purchase and can be re-installed if the buyer wishes. The wings were left at the SL factory inadvertently, and will need to shipped separately from there if the buyer would like them.
These are an absolutely no-story set of Sound Labs, they play beautifully!
I have the Toroid II upgrade available for installation into the backplate. This is an excellent modification, as documented in various forums. The price as listed is for the speakers with the Toroid I installed. I can sell them with the Toroid II for an additional $1500. I have a set of shipping crates that were built by Soundlab. I would really prefer a local pickup (I am in South Florida), but can ship via freight carrier at the buyers expense in the crates.
