Three complementary pieces -the Headroom premium "microstack" + desktop power supply. Consists of a headphone amp that can be battery powered or use the included power supply, a Dac that accepts USB , toslink or coax and functions the same way and Headroom's premium home based power supply that provides +/- 15 VDC for up to six devices. All three units made in USA in 07 using premium components such as the Dac which has a CS4396 24/192 Dac, CS8416 receiver, Analog Devices 822 op amp and Burr Brown 2902E USB receiver-see pictures. The headphone amp uses 2134 Burr Brown op amps in a dual mono configuration with stacked boards, Jung circuitry etc - it is the "desktop electronics module" version .The amp has separate gain, three way switch for headphone impedance matching and defeatable Headroom "crossfeed" processing. The Desktop power supply is Headroom's top unit - weighs 6 or 7 lbs. is multi voltage , has a ground lift and can power 6 devices with fully regulated power , You could add four more 15 VDC devices like phono preamps etc or it would make a great test rig just by itself at less than the original cost.
The headphone amp and/or the dac use 2 - 9 volt batteries on the road.
Also included are the following to complete the package: a Cardas jumper for use between the amp +dac, a toslink cable with mini-plug, a Wireword coax cable with mini-plug adapter (3.5. to 2.5) and a stereo miniplug to rca adapter. as well as two DIN power plugs
This combo will run any impedance headphone I can think of and sounds superb given the build and parts quality especially with the power supply. Condition is conservatively 8/10 .
