WTB: Suggestions needed....CD Player for use as transport

I am beginning my search for a cd player to be used as a transport to my Eastern Electric Dac Plus. I will be using the digital coax connection. I am looking for something in the $400-600 range, new or used. I have a large collection of mostly Redbook cd's so SACD is not a necessity but HDCD decoding would be a plus.
I have been considering a Cambridge 840C which has gotten good reviews and has a digital "pass through" for use as a transport. I have also read some positive notes about the Marantz cdps : CD6005 or maybe a refurbished SC8004.
Open to all suggestions...
Thanks,
Paul

Realistically, in the 400-700 $ range.

The 840C is out of that range unless you found a killer deal , what about just getting a Oppo BDP-103

I can see you are set on acquiring a transport, but I would suggest a digital playback solution instead.  If you dig a little deeper, you will find there are many problems with spinning disk transports.  Many of these issues are avoided by storing/playing your music digitally.

Check out squeezebox and/or similar solutions for superior playback and less expense.

Good luck!!

Actually one just sold recently on the asylum for around $ 500...missed it...
The Oppo is on my radar but I'm not compleyely sold as this is going into a dedicated two channel system....

Thanks...but I kinda like my discs...and don't have the inclination to convert them all to digital. I have a bunch of concerts downloaded to my computer (flac) but typically burn them to disc if I want to play them in my main music system.
I am sure that I'll go the digital route someday in the future but for now I'm just hoping to continue to upgrade my system as it's presently configured.

Onkyo Integra DX706 -  which actually hold's it own against some of the more pricier units I've used ( Audio Research CD2 which I Have listed here and the Sony XA-7es)   It's not on the radar for many people , and will bring up only a handful of mentions via the web but is VERY capable.

Onkyo C-7030:

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-C-7030-Compact-Player-Black/dp/B004UR487A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390309965&sr=8-1&keywords=c-7030+onkyo

I have moved to computer-based audio but the C-7030 is pretty and as a transport it tracked everything I could throw at it.

Denon 1650AR or Rotel RCD-991AE. Both can be had in your price range and are built like tanks. Can't go wrong.

I have a Shanling CD 3000 for sale. It has a fantastic transport, it's built like a tank and has the outputs you need and can run as a standalone player very nicely.

Look for a Faroujda DV-1000. It was a BIG BUX dvd player but is an EXCELLENT cd player/transport. I've been using one for a few years with my Minimax transport. You can find a DV-1000 for Epay for about 200 bux.

I THINK the Cal Delta would be a good option ... still serviceable I believe, used prices below what you are looking at and was measured to have very low jitter
