I will ad pics to this listing later, but wanted to get it posted.
I've had this unit for several years. It was one of Ed's earlier versions, but was sent back this year to be checked out and brought up to current generation. He made few small changes, and finished the case with black fascia and silver casing.
For this unfamiliar, this is an active (not passive) unity buffer with volume control. As per Ed, it has a vanishingly low output impedance, so can drive anything, and I have personal experience with his other claim that it really reduces the impacts of different interconnects from Truth to amp because of this. It also has a very very high input impedance (around a million ohm or something), so any source should be able to drive it easily.
Volume control is also very innovative. Uses photo resistors to modulate gain on the active buffers. I'm not extremely clear on how this differs from the various optocoupler passive pre's available, but Ed claims they're not the same thing at all, and that the Truth has a completely linear impedance response with respect to frequency and that most of the optocouplers vary quite a lot with frequency. Something like that.
All this can be found in posts on Ed's forum for his company Horn Shoppe.
This unit has three inputs and two outputs. Input switching on the rear. Volume control and l/r balance control on the front. Has a captive 6 ft power cord, but Ed could easily swap out for an IEC inlet if you wanted. I never felt the need, and was glad to avoid yet another expensive after market power cord in the system.
Fit and finish is pretty DIY, but decent as long as you're not admiring from short distances.
