Help me out with a $600 build.
« on: 19 Jan 2014, 12:42 am »
A friend of mine has asked me to help him out with picking out a OB build.
I have had a GR V-1 and have a GR Super V ......I love the Super V,
it fits me and my room perfectly......but I have no experience with
a build/kit at this price point......but I'm sure many of you have, so
I'm asking for help finding him a build, in or about the $600 mark.

He doesnt listen loud and is not a fan of heavy bass....

What can we look at?....... :thumb:

Perry, why not point him at Danny's XStatic kit?  Great price, I built a modified GR Research (OB5) version of this speaker using an Hawthorne Augie for bass a few years back and it was excellent.  I have read nothing but great things about this speaker.  Here is the thread:

Exactly what I did Ed.
He was concerned because it seemed to him
people were always talking about improving
it with mods....?....I dont know about that, but
I'm wanting to build one this summer, the price
is too good not to try.
I think the OB5 would be great for him
but its a bit more than he wants to spend.

I think he has more of a traditional 2 or 3 way
on a flat baffle in mind....

Not diy, but Magnepan MMGs are a great bang for the buck at that price.
