I am selling my Van Alstine Ultra Plus hybrid tube preamp for sale. It cost $1799 new as an Ultra SL Preamp with a remote and tape buffer. It has about $450 of additional factory mods to take it from an Ultra SL to an Ultra Plus. The mods consisted of upgrading it to 6CG7 tubes from the 6N1P's, MosFet upgrades and a Home Theater by pass switch. The mods make it much more dynamic and musical compared to the Ultra SL. The sound is smoother and the sound stage is larger. There is more bass slam and detail. The bass is deeper and tighter. The reason I am selling it is because I bought a Pass Labs amp and its matching preamp. The preamp was in for an inspection by Frank himself back in October. I live about 5 minutes from Frank. You can call him and check up on the Preamp. I am asking $1,000 plus shipping and 1/2 of Pay Pal fee's. The unit is in perfect condition and a smoke free environment. I can even throw in some additional tubes.
