Tools needed to remove blade from 3-ch 6BSST2
« on: 12 Jan 2014, 09:47 pm »
I have to mail in a blade to service, and the tech didnt give me any details (although I asked for them ahead of time).
So here I am on Sunday, pulled the amp out of the HT setup, and it appears the screws on the top require a special screw driver I do not have.
It isn't an allen wrench, philips, flat head, or anything from my PC repair tool kit.

I googled the crap out of it for over an hour, no clue.

Anyone here know what kind and size screw tip I need to properly disassemble a blade from a recent model Bryston amp?

thanks.

I believe Bryston uses all TORX screws now.

The last item I had repaired returned with all TORX screws in it.

Go to Home Depot and buy a TORX set of tips. I believe the size of the screws I have are T8-TORX (quite small).

My 6BSST has square heads but the newer digital stuff has TORX....if the tool site is square then it's a SQ1 bit if "star" shaped then TORX.

Thanks, I believe you are correct for my particular amp, mfr'd 5/2013.   I took a pin and 'felt' what the inside was like, and based on the wiki diagram of TORX, it certainly has the TORX design because of the internal little flanges.    If it was square/Robertson, I would have felt different.

Thanks so much for your info, much appreciated!  :icon_lol:
