SOLD!Von Schweikert VR4 Generation III, HSE
(VR4 Gen iii HSE)

These are the last and best iteration of the VR4s, the legendary speakers from Albert Von Schweikert. They’ve been in my system since 2007, and have performed magnificently. With bass frequencies down to 16Hz, there’s no need for a subwoofer, and the mid-range and highs put you in the middle of the music. Perfect for home theater.  These remain, ten years down the line, reference grade speakers of the first order, and will happily accommodate any set up, from tubes to solid state. The two-part cabinets love to be bi-amped. I’ve been powering the bass cabinets with a 170 wpc ss amp, and the mids and highs with 60 w tube monoblocs. But they can also be driven with modest 30 to 40 wpc integrated amps too.

From a non-smoking home, the speakers have always been played far below their limits.
Despite their size, the black, cloth covered cabinets can disappear into just about any room. Furniture grade cherry caps and feet, with only a few barely noticable scuffs on the feet. (Albert wanted to make the best speakers he could at an affordable price, and you can’t do that if you cover the cabinets in expensive veneers—hence the tasteful black cloth.)  In any case, at $2650, you won’t find better speaker new or used for twice or even three times that price. I’ve included specs below, as well as a couple of snippets from many of the glowing audio reviews of these speakers. Photos to be added soon.
