Brian has agreed to offer a couple additional "BCSE" packages.

Very simply what these are, is a group (packaged) of the best upgrades and options available on a particular model, and usually at a savings to the customer.

At this time we have three such packages (added two today)

BRIAN CHENEY SIGNATURE EDITIONS

1) BCSE RM40 = RM40 w/FST tweeter/TRT caps/ MLS cabinet and finish upgrade/Analysis Plus Silver wiring upgrade (add $1999 to base speaker pair)

2) BCSE LARGER Subwoofer = LARGER Sub w/Dual MegaWoofers/Full Soundcoat/Analysis Plus Silver wiring upgrade (add $399 to base subwoofer)

3) BCSE 626R = w/FST tweeter/TRT caps/ MLS cabinet and finish upgrade/Analysis Plus Silver wiring upgrade/New MegaWoofer upgrade/and Soundcoat (add $2299 to base speaker pair)

This last model is one of the premier "monitor" speakers available at any price and one of my favorites.  It simply has to be heard to be beleived :o

The first official BCSE 626R will be created next week (after the new cabinets arrive) and will be broken in and reviewed shortly thereafter by a major online review site.

If you have any questions please contact your dealer, or Brian.

Can the woofer cabinet be made by MLS as well?  Will be interesting reading regarding aforementioned review.

BCSE 626R is just a little less expensive than a stock RM-40

Yeah, it will truly be a SOA speaker.  It will have basically the best drivers, caps and cabinets available.

"ALL" three drivers were designed, modded, or specifically ordered by Brian for this speaker.

The new woofers are incredible!  The magnet structure is extremely heavy, and the Woven Carbon Fiber is lighter and stiffer that the stock woofer.

When you add in the TRT caps which are arguably the best available, and the beautiful Mark Schifter cabinets that both look and perform the best, you have a speaker that is hard to beat.

I have all the BCSE components in my pair, except I put in the Auricaps instead of TRTs (will have TRTs in my RM40s)

When you're out here, you can stop by for a listen.  They "are" impressive :o

For the space challenged, who don't need X-tremely high SPLs, this is a magnificent speaker.  The retrival of low level detail and solid low level bass has to be heard.

Some of us who would love an RM-40 simply don't have the space to accomodate such a big speaker.   As such we want the best that can be had with a full range monitor.   The 626Rs are perfect for my listening space, putting out outstanding bass (already upgraded to the new mega woofer) and amazing dynamics and transparency.  I am looking forward to hearing what the full signature upgrade will bring to my speakers.   Heck they already beat the socks off the last world class monitor I owned, the Dynaudio Special 25. With the new cabinet (ordered African Ebony) and the analysis plus wiring, I expect to be taken to an even higher level of audio quality.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, & yes, & a hearty "Amen" brotha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...............

The best cone/dome standmount competitoin I've yet heard for the original 626R ($1750, SoundCoat option only) was the $10,000 Krell LAT-2 at a Krell dealer (all metal drivers & cabinet).  Myself, customers & the salesman liked the sound of Brian's work better.  It's too bad the incredibly standout woven-carbon-fiber Krell stands ($1600pr) are way too tall for the 626R.  I bet those stands kick heini (B how's my German spelling?)

I wish someone would have some custom WCF stands made up & report to class on the performance.  Hey B, if I got a pair of the Krell stands, could the WCF vertical supports be easliy cut down?  How could it be reassembled?

The 626R absolutely annihilated (& I am NOOOOOOOOOOOT biased am I?) the JM Labs standmount I heard in Palo Alto (circa early 2001, around $5000).

Fascinating that you can get VMPS enclosures that look as sweet as the best that Wilson, Sonus Faber & Aerial have to offer......And still 1/4 the price?  What's up with that???????????

While it is certain that the LARGER will "eventually" be MLS'd, it won't be in the near future.

And it will no doubt be at a higher price since those cabinets are quite large.  But who would mind, since the sub is rather underpriced as it is.

I have one of the last "High Boy" Largers, and it has absolutley no upgrades and it is without a doubt the most musical sub I have ever had in my system. (former subs, JBL, Dahlquist, Legacy, SuperNova, HSU, Infinity, M&K, REL, Atlantic, JAMO, Pinnacle)

In fact, I started a thread recently about buying 3 pair of LARGERs and stacking them.  At $699 each that is $4200!!!!

A single Krell with one 15" driver costs more than that.  I guess I'm still daydreaming about the potential of that.

(looks like Jim and I are complimenting Krell in a way  )

Sounds like the plan.

I just got a Super Secret Silver Power Cord for my Power Amp and it is like I got a new amp.

The astounding thing is that it was not that expensive.  I may carry them for clients.  While it is nothing special to look at (rather plain looking) it brings a more defined soundstage, it sounds faster with leading edge transients, cymbals and metal percussion have more shimmer and reality, Audience applause sounds more real, and many other quality improvements.

Also I expect I'll have the Son of AMPzilla in the system by then.

John,

You going to retro-fit your new amp to be able to take one?

George,

Sent you an e-mail with a 30 day trial proposal.  Love to get yours, and others feedback.

Since cords and cables are so "system dependant" I can't guarantee the same result, but if you want to try it out, I'd like to hear what you hear.

Well in case you haven't spoken with Mr Bongiorno, it is sacreligious to even "think" of such a thing. :nono:

He said that his power cord runs straight from the wall socket to the transformer un-interupted and to stick a connection (EIC) would be "unwise" (he used another set of terms like F***ng Crazy)

Although, I might play with running it (the SSS PC) from the wall to my BPT 3.5 Signature and see if it has any effect. :o

John,

I have indeed had that conversation with Mr. Bongiorno, and have understood the riskiness of the proposition.   Considering how good his amp sounds as designed, I'm not about to tinker...at least not with an aftermarket IEC socket install.   I may try something from my "super secret carbon" power cord designer though.   It won't mess with Mr. Bongiorno's power cord implementation, but might improve things fairly significantly, even without an actual wire transplant.

Your wife will LOVE the Hotel Bel Air, especially if she's going to get pampered, you might be able to negotiate some more audio goodies  after her trip to the spa   .  We had our wedding and reception there, awesome hotel, more like a retreat than a hotel since it's so secluded.

One of the fond memories I have of assembling VMPS speakers for Brian a few centuries ago was grooving to the sound of the old highboy Larger Subs while they burned in.  Even all alone, hearing only the bass, the sound was uniquely fun & pleasureable, so close to the sound of live bass instruments.  Your comparison list above is more testimony to the same.
