BDP - ALAC Meta Data Problem
« on: 11 Dec 2013, 10:53 pm »
Hi,

The BDP seems to use the Composer instead of the Artist metadata when displaying the artist information.

For example from a White Strips Album (the artist is given as Jack White - the composer):

Artist: Jack White
Album: Icky Thump
Title: Icky Thump
Lyrics:
Total # Songs:17118Playlist Count:19Current Track ID:18Current Track Ps:27Current Track Lg:254Repeat:1Random:0Up Time:4472Playtime:853xfade:0Bitrate:920State:pauseEngine:NetscapeAgent:Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_9) AppleWebKit/537.71 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Safari/537.71Platform:MacIntelApp Version:5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_9) AppleWebKit/537.71 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Safari/537.71WxH:

I understand the this might be desirable behaviour for classical music, but for most of my music it's a nightmare.  Perhaps this could be configurable.  A Prefer Composer Flag?

Is the MPD server also passing the Composer instead of the Artist? Because I have the same problem in MPod and MPaD.

Thanks
Ron

Using ncmpcpp I can see that the Metadata isn't what I'd expect.  Via itunes the Artist is 'The White Stripes' and the Composer is 'Jack White'.

This is what I see using the ncmpcpp client with the bryston BDP as host.
