XLR connection change
« on: 11 Dec 2013, 10:33 pm »
Hello;

I have been enjoying my new pair of 28s now for a couple weeks, absolutely love them, the blue LEDs look really cool too:). When I went to connect my balanced cables I noticed that the XLR inputs no longer have the little metal push tab that releases the lock for the connection. These tabs exists on my 2003/2004 era 4B-SST and also on my 2006 era 4B-SST and 6B-SST. I'm just curious why that type of connection is no longer used, the old hardware would seem to be more secure in that it created an actual lock. With these new inputs I suppose it would be possible to accidentally pull the cable out, much like a non-locking RCA connection.

Just curious,

Rod

Hi Rod

Correct - we felt it was better for the connection to be pulled out rather than damage the connection in the amp or on the cable.

Ah ok, that makes sense, I never looked at things from that perspective.

Thanks James.
