Oh no. Right channel on my T1's is not working.
« on: 8 Dec 2013, 07:55 pm »
Last night my T1 headphone right channel went out.  I was not pushing the amp( Schiit Lyr) hard.  Does anybody know what to for before it gets shipped out for repair?

That happened with some grado's I had. Turns out my amp was malfunctioning and would blow the driver.
Happened twice before the problem was found....

All leads are connected properly.  I think the driver is gone.  Its under warranty so Beyer will either fix or replace.

I work around the corner rom a Bentley dealership, where they sell cars that cost +/-$150K. (I confess I have never gone in to price them lol)

It has a service department.  :?

Sh** happens. If their warranty support is as strong as ajzepp says, then wtf.

i know this is too late to be of any benefit to you now but in case someone else faces this again.

1. get a cheap multimeter - the $4 versions will work just fine.
2. set the resistance to the lowest setting.
3. measure the resistance between the lower ring of the plug and either the tip ( left channel ) or the middle ring ( right channel ) - assuming TRS plug with 3 contacts , if TRRS ( 4 rings - one for mic ) bottom ring and top 2.

hope you got it fixed.

Thanks for info dBel but my T1's are already in Germany for the repair.  I still have my 600 Ohm 990's to hold me over.  But I have to admit, I highly miss those puppies!

Wow, they shipped 'em all the way back to the homeland, eh?

As I understand it, it is more cost effective to send them back to Germany.  As for replacing both drivers that will be up to Beyer.  I just want them back.

It depends on the driver revision, Beyer and other headphone companies make proper tests before sending them back.

I was just notified that my Beyer T1's have been repaired and shipped out from the  SOUND SURGEON located in Smithtown NY. And yes, Beyer did replace both drivers.  It's like getting an old girl friend back. :green:

The T1's arrived back and are working perfectly.  Beyer customer service is top notch.  You were correct Ajzepp. :)

You cannot over estimate great customer service.  Only when you experience some vendor's indifference is this appreciated.  Enjoy the music.
